Esslemont Estate was established
in 2000. Varieties grown are Mission Frantic and Leccino. We produce
a premium certified organic extra virgin olive oil winning both National and State awards. “From the tree to the bottle”, we harvest, process and bottle on-site and are very passionate about our product. Head out for a tour!

Locally grown dates, from the farm direct to the public. A seasonal fruit (summer / autumn), the plantation was established in 2007. We have five varieties consisting of Nagal, Khalas, Khadrawy, Medjool and Barhee. A new superfood, dates provide a healthy nutritious alternative to processed sugars.

Uniquely Toodyay is located in the heritage building that was the former post office. Locally produced products include: macadamia nuts, jams, chutneys, sauces, certified organic honey and bee pollen, pastured eggs, olive oil, stone ground spelt flour and lime cordial. So fill up your picnic basket. In addition locally made craft and art work are also available.

Established in the late 1870’s the winery has operated continuously, making it one of the oldest wineries in the State so come and experience the wine and history. All grapes are grown on scenic undulating slopes around the Toodyay property. We offer wine tasting and cellar door sales. Perhaps find a picnic spot near the cellar or a quick walk up to the old Ringa Railway Bridge and Harper Brook.

Toodyay is known for its parks, wildflowers, nature reserves, natural bushland and riverside areas - so bring your picnic basket, stock it up and head to one of the many picturesque locations.
The trail can be experienced in half a day, a whole day or be enjoyed over a few days - the choice is yours! Perhaps stay a while at one of the many B&B’s and other accommodation in town and out in the bushland surrounding Toodyay. This trail provides the opportunity to explore this ‘hidden country gem’ right on Perth’s doorstep.
Toodyay is situated inland in the picturesque Avon Valley region, only 80km North east of Perth. A population of 4,439 stretched over 1,683 kilometres means there is plenty of space to enjoy the peace and quiet. During wildflower season (August to November) the local reserves come alive with colour, making Toodyay a must see.

Additional Useful Items
The Toodyay Food & Picnic Trail is generally experienced with your own transport but other options are available for those that choose to head to Toodyay by train. The AvonLink / MerredinLink train service travels to Toodyay, and it is one of WA’s most scenic train journey’s. For times and bookings please go to: www.transwa.wa.gov.au. If you travel by train you will need to make arrangements for transport once in Toodyay.There are no car hire companies, but there are a number of tour operators and a transport hire service. Prior bookings - well in advance - are essential.
