Lake Leschenaultia MTB Trails

Lake Leschenaultia has all the makings of a great riding destination, especially if you don’t like riding up hills! This makes it a great destination for the young, families, those getting back into the sport or a gentle place to ride on a hot day.

With approximately 12kms of custom MTB trail built there are two options to ride up, with several options to ride back down. While talking ups and downs we are only talking around 50m climbing (or descending) spread over approximately 2kms per trail. The trails themselves each have a different flavour. The old school will love Man Vs Machine and Blue Panther. The young flow riders will love Hula while those who like to huck will have some features to tackle on Shakes n Ladders.

While the lake is lovely to swim in summer, the trails are best in winter where a bit of moisture holds them together and the run faster. This is not a place you want to ride with fast tyres with minimal grip.

The trail network somewhat constrained by the area it was built in suits cross country and trail riders of intermediate or beginner grades. If you’ve got spare energy after a lap of all the trails don’t forget that Forsyths Mill isn’t far away. There are also easy fire loops around the lake and even into Chidlow (Where you can link onto the Kep Track). Advanced riders will find Shakes N Ladders fun for a lap or two, maybe even a squirt around the pumptrack next to the carpark as you enter. .

For more of a challenge there are dirt jumps in Chidlow (next to the pub) and an engaging intermediate to advance cross country loop at Forysths Mill less than five minutes away.

Lake Leschenaultia is open all year round and is a popular recreational area offering walk trails, bbq facilities, swimming and canoe hire in summer. With this much to do it's worth making a weekend of it and camping overnight.

The gates open at 8.30am (8am on Saturday and Sunday for breakfast at the cafe) and closes at sunset plus 30mins all year round.

Supported by great organisations

Trails are free and bring so many benefits to our community by providing opportunities to have fun, get fit, socialise, explore and challenge yourself. But they also have to be managed and maintained which only is made possible through terrific sponsors, donations and/or volunteering.
