This short easy bush walk takes you through a section of karri forest in the Warren National Park. These magnificent giants are only found throughout the the southwest of Western Australia, with some growing up to 90m high. Some trees are more than 200 years old.

The forest is home to many types of birds, including purple-crowned lorikeets, that can be seen darting around in the karri tree tops and feed on the blossoms. You can identify them by their continuous and rapid shrill calls that can be almost deafening during flowering season! Keep a look out for splendid fairy-wrens, white-breasted robins and grey fantails.

If you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, then climb 20 metres up to the deck of the Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree. This tree was pegged in 1988, and although it was built for visitors to climb and appreciate, it has been used on occasions as a fire lookout when the aircraft were unable to fly.
