Ooramboo Trail, Mt Augustus NP

The Ooramboo Trail takes you to Edney’s Spring past Aboriginal engravings (petroglyphs) along an escarpment. Be prepared for some steps and unstable, loose rocks. It is accessed from the Loop Drive at the southern end of Mt Augustus.

It is easy to see the significance of Mount Augustus to the local Wajarri Aboriginal people. There are several significant artwork sites accessible to hikers via marked trails. 

For a quick look and cultural insights, the easy to get to Ooramboo Trail goes to a low escarpment. Look around without touching under ledges and rock walls for Aboriginal engravings. Continue on for a further 100 metres to get to Edney's Trail

Grade 3

Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some bushwalking experience recommended. Tracks may have short steep hill sections a rough surface and many steps. Walks up to 20km.

Hazards & Warnings

Loose rocks and unstable surfaces.

Extreme heat that can exceed 40 degrees in summer.

4WD. Mainly unsealed roads. Roads may be closed after heavy rain. Check conditions before travelling. Carry ample fuel, water and supplies to cope with all possible occurrences - see Group D list.
