Read more about this trail

When you're walking in the Walpole-Nornalup National Park, almost completely surrounded by the Walpole and Nornalup Inlets Marine Park, you would expect something special. Luckily, this trail delivers the goods!

You'll wander though several different types of forest. The tall karri forest shelters lush undergrowth which is a riot of colour in spring as the wildflowers bloom. Jarrah and marri forest through the central part of the trail give way to shady peppermint groves. Just for something completely different, the northern section of trail is dominated sword grass, kingias and grass trees that thrive on the lateritic soil.

This trail is an orchid spotters paradise with many species such as bunny, karri spider and cowslip orchids nestled among the undergrowth in season. In the wetter months, the colours and variety of fungi reallly have to be seen to be believed.

Just to add to the appeal, there are free gas barbeques at Channels picnic area and you can go for a paddle or cool off with a swim at the nearby Coalmine Beach.
