10 Things to Do around Mundaring

Iconic long-distance trails pass through Mundaring, with the gnarly 1000km Munda Biddi Trail’s northern terminus beginning at Mundaring Sculpture Park. Plan an epic trip via the Munda Biddi to Albany.

Explore the Mundaring Weir Interpretation Precinct. Hike to a lookout for sweeping views of Lake CY O’Connor. Take a hike on one of many walking trails in Mundaring Weir, some of which connect with the world-renowned Bibbulmun Track.

Ride a Mundaring mountain bike network. From downhill thrills at The Goat Farm, to Lake Leschenaultia’s network of MTB trails, there’s plenty of pulse-racing adventures to be had.

Explore the trails, waterfalls and history of John Forrest National Park – Western Australia’s very first National Park. Covering more than 2,500 hectares, several hiking trails begin here. The park’s huge granite rocks are said to be the droppings of the Dreamtime serpent, the Waugal.

The Railway Reserves Heritage Trail follows the route of the old steam trains, connecting Mundaring with its surrounding villages. Popular for walking, cycling and horse riding, the 41km loop trail can be broken down into bite-sized pieces or combined with the “Pedal and Pint Trail”, stopping off at heritage hotels for a bite to eat.

Slow down the pace at Lake Leschenaultia, BYO canoe (hire available in summer season), take a slow walk around the easy lake loop, laze on the lush lawns with a picnic, explore the MTB trail network or disconnect from the everyday at the lakeside campground.

You can enjoy an amazing abseiling experience at Mountain Quarry. Right on the edge of the Perth Hills scarp, a twilight abseiling is a must for thrill seekers.

Love culture? Visit the region’s art galleries, or the No 1 Pump museum at Mundaring Weir.
