Western Australia is a great place to explore by bicycle. The climate is sunny and much of the terrain is flat. Perth and some of the larger regional centres have excellent networks of paths and on-road facilities for cyclists. You can bring your own bike or hire/buy one when you arrive.
An excellent range of pdf cycling guides and maps which cover most of the Perth region and many regional areas is available from the Department of Transport website.
Most of Perth’s bike riding is on dual-use paths where you should keep left whenever possible and remember that pedestrians have priority at roads, make sure it is safe to cross before leaving the path. Obey all road rules and for your own protection, wear a helmet at all times. See the Trail Tips page for more information.
