Whale Trail, Augusta

About the Trail

There are not many trails around where you can enjoy the health benefits of walking and see a few surfacing  humpback whales, right whales and dolphins, sometimes at the same time. Augusta near Cape Leeuwin in WA's south west has one such trail.

Overlooking the scenic and wild Flinders Bay, walkers should lookout for the telltail spray of breathing whales. If you are really lucky, you could witness some whale action in the form of breaching and tail slapping acrobatics. The walk itself partly follows a formed trail and some road. The route goes through the caravan park at Flinders Bay and there is directional signage. The walk takes about 1.5 hours, depending on how often or long you stop for whales.
