Heartbreak Drive Trail, Pemberton
About the Trail
This one way gravel road loops in an anticlockwise direction from Old Vasse Road down to the Warren River at Heartbreak Crossing. The track was originally built to clear a path for firefighters. It then follows the river.
Canoes can be launched at several points and there is camping at Drafty's Camp and Warren Camp on the river. The track then ascends to the 65m Dave Evans Bicentennial tree which can be climbed, providing views of the forest and glimpses to the Yeagarup Dunes and coast beyond.
Turning back along Old Vasse Road, the trail then passes a huge karri painted by Marianne North on a visit from England in 1880. Radio 100FM provides more information along the route. The Warren National Park offers some of the best virgin karri forest in the south west. The Warren River Loop Walk follows a similar route.
