This 2.4km trail is the shortest and most popular trail from Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse. The trail takes you a wooden lookout on top of the clifftops, where you can view whales from May to November.

The lookout on the Whale Trail provides the perfect vantage point for viewing whales from May through to November. A shelter at an upper lookout has interpretive information about the whales which migrate along this coastline.  

Out of season, this walk offers magnificent panoramic coastal views, diverse coastal heath and an opportunity to spot birds living in the area.

The trail is on a mix of bitumen, exposed limestone and sand, with wooden steps leading to a lower boardwalk.

Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse has a gift shop with snacks and drinks. Access to the lighthouse grounds requires an entry fee, and guided tours of the lighthouse are available hourly. A museum is located in one of the original lighthouse keeper’s cottages.

Lovely walk with fabulous views. No whales spotted as not there in the right season - but still walked down to the whale lookout where there is some good interpretation. Nice that it is close to the lighthouse where you can enjoy a coffee or cold drink before or after your walk.
