Coalmine Beach is on the northern shore of the Nornalup Inlet and the calm, shallow water is perfect for swimming. it was named for the shallow seam of coal in the nearby cliffs.

Paddle from the Walpole Town Jetty though the channel between the Knolls and around to east. 

Alternatively, you could start your paddle at Coalmine Beach and paddle around to Walpole. 

Coalmine Beach is a great place for a picnic with free gas BBQ's, picnic tables and toilets provided. 

The Nornalup Inlet is exposed to wind, waves and tidal currents and is appropriate for medium to advanced paddlers. Weather conditions can change quickly and paddlers need to ensure that their skills are sufficient to manage the trip. 

You can paddle to a range of destinations from Walpole Town Jetty. Look for other suggestions in the Kapagup Nornalup Paddle Network on TrailsWA or on the trailhead signage at Walpole Town Jetty.

Walpole is about 430km south of Perth. Walpole Town Jetty is off Boronia Street. Coalmine Beach Road is sealed and accessible from Walpole.
