Mount Augustus or Burringurrah, not surprisingly, is of great cultural significance to the local Wajarri Aboriginal people who live nearby in the Burringurrah Community. There are various sites where you can see for yourself, forms of ancient rock art (petroglyphs). The mosaic patern of a quartz vein can also be seen embedded in the rock. Certainly one of the easiest and most accessible locations for viewing good examples of Wajarri engravings is via the Petroglyph Trail.

Avoid touching the engravings. Oil from your hands will damage them.
