Read more about this trail

This short but tranquil walk trail in the Len Howard Conservation Park traverses the Ramsar-listed Peel-Harvey estuary, the largest and most diverse estuarine complex in south-western Australia. It is a key destination for tourism and recreation, particularly popular for boating, fishing and crabbing.

As well as being popular with people, the Peel-Harvey Estuary is extremely important to wildlife. Walkers often report sighting the Mandurah dolphins, as well as many of the tens of thousands of waterbirds, including large numbers of migrant shorebirds from the northern hemisphere, that use the estuary and lakes each year.

The trail crosses over fresh water pools where you will see insects and birds. If your willing enough to embrace an early morning or evening walk, you may spot one of the resident kangaroos or a quenda foraging in the soil for earthworms and fungi.

I didn't think it was a "wow" trail but a nice walk nonetheless. The trail takes walkers along the estuary, over boardwalks & fresh water pools where you will see insects, birds & other wildlife. A bird hide and lookouts are great vantage points for birdwatching.
