About Maidens Upper Lookout Walk, Kalgulup Regional Park
From the Maidens lower lookout, 153 steps lead to the upper lookout where you can enjoy sweeping 360 degree views over the Indian Ocean and Bunbury to the Darling Scarp.

Group B - Hiking & Long Distance Trails

Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen (SPF 30+)
Insect repellent
Plenty of drinking water (as a minimum carry and drink 1 litre of water per hour of walking, per person).
PLB or satellite phone
Clothing to suit the activity, environment and weather conditions.
Map/ Compass, do not rely on your phone in remote locations.
Snacks/ Meals to keep your energy levels up on longer walks
Extra food and water in case of unexpected delays
Rubbish bag to remove all your rubbish
Reference material such as wildflower wildlife guides.
Whistle (for emergencies, six short blasts per minute)
Small trowel for toilet emergencies, and a few sheets of toilet paper in a small waterproof bag.
Personal first aid kit (check that items are clean, properly sealed, have not exceeded expiry dates and that used items have been replaced).

Hazards & Warnings
Unsealed paths in Maidens Reserve have moderately steep sections. Mostly crushed limestone with some soft sand. Loose rocks, gravel and plant debris may pose a slipping or tripping hazard.
Be aware Maidens Reserve is a snake risk area. Snakes occur in this area and are an important part of our natural environment. Please stay on the paths. If you see a snake, remain calm. Avoid disturbing it and let it move away at its own pace.
Safety
Be smart and wear comfortable, sturdy shoes and sun protection. Avoid walking on hot days and take plenty of drinking water.
Biodiversity
Stay on the path and help prevent dune erosion and the spread of Phytophthora dieback, a disease that kills our native plants.Â
Please pick up after your dog and keep them on a leash at all times to protect the wildlife and your pet.

Nearest toilets are located at the Maidens Reserve Playground, along with all other facilities.Â
