Maidens Reserve is an area of bushland that protects a variety of plant communities, including coastal heath blankets, tuart woodland, and unique sedgelands.

The Maidens takes its name from a pair of dunes, 65 and 66 metres above sea level, the highest points in Bunbury. From Noongar people to early seafarers, overland explorers and modern cartographers, these tall peaks have been a valuable navigational aid and mapping reference.

Maidens Coastal Walk is an excellent way to explore Maidens Reserve, running parallel to Mindalong Beach and the vast Indian Ocean. Starting at Mindalong Beach carpark and winding through coastal dunes, Maidens Coastal Walk can be completed as a 2km return trail.

Alternatively, the trail can be combined with Quandong Walk for a 3.5km return option. For this option, begin at Maidens Reserve carpark to jump on Quandong Walk, and then head north on Maidens Coastal Walk until Mindalong Beach carpark.

Don't forget there's an access point to Mindalong Beach at either end of the trail if you feel like a dip in the fresh ocean!
