A difficult loop walk through the Mundy Regional Park, taking in spectacular views of Perth city, Swan Coastal Plain and the Darling Scarp. With some steep climbs and loose descents, the trail winds through wandoo woodlands, red gums and small jarrah trees, with opportunities to see native wildflowers.

The Lewis Road Walk is a difficult 5km loop trail through the Mundy Regional Park, taking in stunning views of Perth city, Swan Coastal Plain, Regional Parklands, and the Darling Scarp.

The trail passes through wandoo woodlands, with red gums and small jarrah trees among some of the lush native flora on show, with magnificent wildflowers during wildflower season (August to October). The trail commences at the carpark at the northern end of Lewis Road, 20 kilometres from Perth, and only 10 kilometres from Kalamunda. With some steep climbs and loose descents with slippery gravel, some bushwalking experience is advised. 

The trail markers for this trail are red, although signage is scarce with no trailhead so please consult the trail map and trail notes, available at the City of Kalamunda website in the links section.

Good trail for building fitness as it has a couple of protracted steep climbs and is relatively close to Perth. As the notes say, the signage is poor to none but if you keep in mind that it is a loop, with another trail, the Whistlepipe creek line, cutting through the middle of it, that will help you navigate. Some good views and wildlife along the way. The pea gravel is fun on the downhill sections! At only about an hour and a bit for the circuit, it's a bit quick for me so it was good to combine it with the Whistlepipe trail for a more substantial walk.

I think this is a very underrated, unutilised walk. For those not wanting the business that Whistlepipe Gully Trail can sometimes bring, this would be next best.

Amazing city view along the walk. You could see lots of birds in the trees. There was not enough signs. Be aware of the bull ants, and they loved your shoes and pants...
