Just a 45-minute drive south of Perth, the Anne Mueller Environmental Walk in Rockingham offers a peaceful 3km walk around one of the largest freshwater lakes on the Swan Coastal Plain. Nestled close to the coast, Lake Richmond is an ecological gem, home to two nationally listed threatened ecological communities—sedgelands and the ancient thrombolites. These rock-like formations, some of the oldest known life forms on Earth, can be safely viewed from a purpose-built boardwalk extending into the lake.

The flat, dog-friendly trail winds through native bushland and provides interpretive signage highlighting the area’s rich cultural and ecological significance. Along the way, you'll spot an abundance of birdlife including pelicans, black swans, shelducks, musk ducks, white-faced herons, and common greenshanks. A lakeside viewing platform offers the perfect spot to take in the serene surrounds. The walk has the perfect mix of natural beauty, biodiversity, and accessibility perfect for all trail or nature lovers.
