Learn moreAbout Lake Kununurra Trail
This flat wide trail follows the Lake Kununurra shoreline with stunning views. You can do it walking or on a bike. The trail is close to lakeside caravan parks.
Besides being cooler, around sunrise is a great time to see local wildlife, especially birds. Bird enthusiasts can tick off numerous species including water birds and colourful finches. Take a pair of binoculars and linger around patches of luxuriant tropical vegetation.
You can double back or return by joining the track closer to the main road. All up you are looking at about 6km in length. Our suggestion is to double-back to avoid traffic and increase wildlife spotting opportunities. An added and much appreciated bonus is the trail goes past Pumphouse, a café/restaurant open for breakfast on weekends. The restaurant was formerly a pump station that operated in the 1960s and now offers dining with fine views of Lake Kununurra.
