Learn moreAbout Lake Joondalup Circuit
The 16km Lake Joondalup Curcuit is a well developed family friendly path around Lake Joondalup in Yellagonga Regional Park’s north. Lake Joondalup is a nature reserve and has a lot of wildlife including turtles, ducks and many other birds. Most of the banks are either swampland or reeds.
The path is a shared path for walkers and cyclists. Start at Neil Hawkins Park and walk/cycle in clockwise direction onto the shared path next to the jetty (great place to observe long-necked freshwater turtles).
Make your way around the lake and enjoy the magnificent flora and fauna. Wildlife to be observed include tiger snakes and dugites, kangaroos, fresh water turtles, as well as numerous waterfowl. The loop also takes in children’s playgrounds, the local golf course, a boardwalk and observation tower, as well as the historic site of Neil Hawkins Park and panoramic lake views. Have a rest at one of the great picnic spots and lookouts or let your children have a play at the playground.
Yellagonga Regional Park is easily accessible by walking, cycling, car, or public transport. It is an easy 30 minutes from the Perth CBD by car and serviced by five train stations on the Joondalup line; Greenwood, Edgewater, Currambine, Joondalup and Whitfords.
