This paddle combines the best of both worlds - a paddle on the Nornalup Inlet and a walk through the Walpole Nornalup National Park to the isolated Circus Beach.
Keep Newdegate Island on your left as you leave the Deep River delta and head for Rocky Point and beyond to Sealers Cove. Secure your kayak here and swap your paddle for your walking shoes.
The Circus Beach walk trail is a 3km return, Class 3 walk. You'll wander thorugh peppermint groves, jarrah forest and low coastal heath. Listen for frog calls as you pass the freshwater Crinia Lake which is nestled between high dunes. A good level of fitness is recommended for this walk.
Swimming is not recommended at Circus Beach however, Sealers Cove is a refreshing place for a dip.
The Nornalup Inlet is exposed to wind, waves and tidal currents and is appropriate for medium to advanced paddlers. Weather conditions can change quickly and paddlers need to ensure that their skills are sufficient to manage the trip.
Be aware that there is no vehicle access to Sealers Cove or Circus Beach.
You can paddle to a range of destinations from Isle Road. Look for other suggestions in the Kapagup Nornalup Paddle Network on TrailsWA or on the trailhead signage at Isle Road.
