Roley Pools has been used as a local swimming hole for many years and is part of Roleystone folklore. The walk along the rivers edge encompasses a variety of terrain such as giant Granite and Dolerite outcrops.

A wide and diverse range of wildlife can be found in and around this section of the river, with many native ducks, kingfishers, Quenda, kangaroos, wallabies, several species of fish, snakes, lizards and Australia's only native water rat, "Rakali" residing there.

The Heritage Walk Trail can be accessed from the Cascade Car Park on Thompson Road or from Heritage Drive, Roleystone.

This 3.2 kilometre trail can be added to the Roley Pools Boardwalk Trail to create a 5.8km trail.
