Harewood Forest Walk Trail, Denmark

Just a short 10-minute drive from the heart of Denmark, Harewood Forest offers a peaceful 2.8km walk through a beautiful regrowth karri forest. Once cleared of its towering timber in the late 1800s, the forest has since regenerated into a thriving example of nature's resilience.

The trail begins alongside the tranquil Scotsdale Brook, meandering for 800 metres through lush riverine vegetation before gently ascending to a ridge lined with whispering karri oaks and karri hazel. At the top, you’ll be treated to lovely views back down the valley as the trail loops around and leads you back to the carpark.

Harewood Forest is a place where nature and history intertwine. As you walk, interpretive signs reveal stories of Denmark’s timber past, adding depth to the experience. In the cooler, wetter months the forest floor transforms into a fungi wonderland with an array of shapes and colours to discover. Spring brings a burst of wildflowers, brightening the trail beneath the towering karri canopy. In summer the shaded path and the gentle trickle of the brook offer a cool, peaceful retreat. Best of all, dogs are welcome—so you can enjoy the walk with your furry companion by your side.

If you prefer a shorter walk, the first 800 metres along the brook make for a delightful walk on their own. From the trailhead, take the left fork to complete the loop in a clockwise direction.
