Learn moreAbout Great Ocean Trail, Esperance
Nestled in the township of Esperance is the Great Ocean Trail, a 6.5 km journey that weaves through some of the most beautiful natural bushland. Starting at the Pink Lake Golf Course, this trail offers an escape into nature, winding through lush bushland and leading you from the serene Pink Lake to the iconic Twilight Beach.
As you make your way along the path, you'll traverse vibrant banksia woodlands, which come alive in spring with an explosion of colours from flowering shrubs and delicate orchids. It's a visual feast that will leave nature lovers and photographers alike in awe.
The trail is incredibly versatile, making it perfect for everyone—from walkers and trail runners to cyclists and even those with furry friends in tow. With its mostly bituminized surface, it’s also pram-friendly, although some gentle undulations add a bit of a challenge and fun to the journey.
As you approach the end of the trail at Twilight Beach, you'll be greeted with sweeping, panoramic views of the Southern Ocean. The sight of the sparkling waters of the Recherche Archipelago and the dramatic coastline of Esperance will take your breath away. It's the perfect spot to pause, take in the scenery, and appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds you.
This trail is part of the longer and more challenging Great Ocean Walk and Cycle Trail. A 17km scenic loop starting from the Esplanade.Â
We acknowledge the Kepa Kurl Wudjari people of the Nyungar nation and Ngadju people who are the Traditional custodians of this land and their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and we extend that respect to other Aboriginal Australians today.
