Learn moreAbout Galup Trail
This 3.5km loop trail encircles Galup, formerly Lake Monger, a large urban wetland on the Swan Coastal Plain. The lake is a home to an abundance of local flora and fauna making it a popular location to observe a wide selection of WA's beautiful birdlife.
The trail is sealed and fully accessible, with interpretive plaques providing insights from a historical perspective. There are boardwalks and lookouts around the lake from where you can take in the reserve's natural beauty and watch birdlife. Thirty eight species of birds have been sighted including black swans, cormorants, spoonbills and pelicans. If you're lucky you may even spot southwestern snake-necked turtles, large skinks, and two species of native frogs. A lookout on the north side of the lake has impressive views to the Perth city skyline.
