The Dixon Road Conservation Precinct trail is a 4km loop perfect for hiking or trail running and takes trail users through remnant bushland in Rockingham that was once used for grazing cattle. Wander past groves of balgas, marri, and tuart trees while enjoying seasonal wildflowers and the gentle rustle of native birdlife overhead. Keep an eye out for Carnaby’s Black Cockatoos—an endangered species that nest in the area. Several nesting boxes can be spotted in the tree canopies, supporting conservation efforts to protect these charismatic birds.

The trail is flat and accessible for most, with several picnic tables and bench seats thoughtfully placed along the way—making it a great spot for a quiet cuppa or family picnic. The route follows a designated trail alongside Dixon Road before traversing through a small section of beautiful balga bushland and then runs adjacent to the railway line for the final stretch.

This short but rewarding trail offers a glimpse into the conservation of urban parklands in Rockingham and is just 45 minutes south of Perth’s CBD.
