This short 1.4 km trail is extremely popular during spring, when the wildflowers are stunning. Expect to see carpets of everlastings, a variety of flowering shrubs and stunning orchids.
Located 20 minutes from Mingenew or 4 hours north of Perth, most people will manage this trail with ease. The wide firm sandy track is easy to follow and there are seats placed along the trail at a couple of places.
At the end of the trail there is an old firing range trench that was built by hand in the 1940s. There are signs at the start and end of the trail, explaining how the site was utilized during WWII.
Birdlife is prolific in the reserve and the tall gums that grow along the nearby Irwin River provide valuable nesting sites for parrots and cockatoos.
Allow one hour for this walk, or longer if you are going to look for specific wildflowers and orchids

Trail Start
There is sign on Depot Hill Rd, saying Parking Area, 9.9 km from the turn off on the Mingenew - Mullewa Rd.
Trail End
Bush Walk
Grade 2
No bushwalking experience required. The track is a hardened or compacted surface and may have a gentle hill section or sections and occasional steps. Walks no greater than 10km. Suitable for families with young children.
