This family friendly trail begins at the day use picnic area of the Denmark Wetlands Centre, an 8-hectare wetland rehabilitation site 2.5km east of Denmark, WA.

The wetlands provide an example of an integrated biodiversity and farm forestry planting, with a range of tree species including Karri, Ancient Paperbarks and River Banksia.

The wetland was once regarded as a degraded swamp however since 1994 rehabilitation work (by Greenskills Denmark) has included development of a bird-hide including a bird-species information box, a dieback cleaning station, paths and a boardwalk to provide and control access to the wetlands viewing-sites and Ornitarium.

Education centre facilities include interpretive signage, sheltered picnic tables, a composting toilet and a lookout.  Park at the picnic area of the centre which is 400m down Atkinson Road,
