Learn moreAbout Roley Pools Heritage Walk Trail, Roley Pool Reserve, Roleystone
Roley Pools has been used as a local swimming hole for many years and is part of Roleystone folklore. The walk along the rivers edge encompasses a variety of terrain such as giant Granite outcrops and Dolerite dykes.
A wide and diverse range of wildlife can be found in and around this section of the river, with many native ducks, kingfishers, Quenda, kangaroos, wallabies, several species of fish, snakes, lizards and Australia's only native water rat, "Rakali" residing there.
There are two walk trails along this section of the river which combine to create the Roley Pools Heritage Trail Walk. To walk the length of the trail use the Heritage Walk Trail and the Boardwalk Trail combined. The other two trails along this stretch of river are the Nature Spa Trail, which is located along the Boardwalk Trail section and the Roley Pools Walk Trail, running along the north western side of the river.
The Roley Pools section of the trail can be accessed from Soldiers Road, Thompson Road and Collins Road, with a small area of parking available at each site. Collins Road has direct access down a stone staircase to the main Pools area, alternatively access is available from Soldiers Road along a meandering gravel track on the north side of the river and a board walk on the southern side (there are some stairs along this path).
Information regarding these delightful walk trails can be accessed here or pick up a brochure from the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre.
