About Purnululu National Park
Purnululu National Park contains amazing geological formations, with deep gorges, rocky creek beds, open woodlands, majestic Livistona palms and the exceptional Bungle Bungle Range. Best explored on foot, there are a several trails in the northern and southern sections of the range, including Echidna Chasm, Cathedral Gorge and the famous 'beehive' domes.
This is a culturally significant area, where Jaru and Gija people of the East Kimberley are recognised as the traditional owners and maintain a strong connection to this ancient land. Please respect the cultural significance of this area by only walking on marked trails and leaving everything as you find it - including plants, animals and geological formations.
Purnululu is generally open from April/May to late November dependent on weather and road conditions. This park is very remote with limited available supplies and untreated bore water. Visitors must carry in all water, food, fuel and other supplies. You will need supplies for three days (even if you are staying one) and enough fuel for a minimum of 300km. Purnululu National Park covers vast distances, so a day trip is not recommended.
Please note that drones are not permitted at Purnululu National Park.
