
Blackwood River Valley
This jewel of the South West is home to abundant waterways, giant jarrah and marri forests and Western Australia's Donnelly River - heritage listed timber town. There are a plethora of trails and ways to experience this incredibly welcoming area, which is conveniently located just 2.5 hours from Perth.
The area surrounding the river has an abundance of trail options – firstly, as the name suggests, is home to numerous tranquil waterways that are ideal for paddling enthusiasts.

And if you’re a lover of nature’s colour palette – be sure to take a walk on one of the numerous trails at the Golden Valley Tree Park in Balingup, where you’ll be gifted with stunning auburns, reds, mustard and green colours of the deciduous trees.
Measuring 300km in length, the Blackwood River is the longest continually flowing river in Western Australia and you can easily canoe or kayak along the river with the many self-guided paddle options (or take up a tour).
Take a self-drive trail through the intersecting country roads through green pastures and undulating hills and explore the food, wine and cider of the region or just explore the art trails and quaint townships and of Balingup, Nannup and Bridgetown and their natural scenery.
Of course, you can also saddle up and explore this tranquil region whilst blazing a trail on the Munda Biddi bike trail if using pedal power to meander through the tall jarrah and marri forests is more your scene
