The Creery Wetlands are completely gated to protect the wildlife from foxes and stray cats. There are two boardwalks overlooking the estuary with information panels, a viewing platform and a bird hide, so is a great spot to see waterbirds.

The pathway is flat and firm and heading back you have the option of returning through the wetlands, or you exit the gated area and follow the footpath back.

The Creery Wetlands are an important habitat for waterbirds, including 22 species of migratory shorebirds. These extraordinary birds, some weighing only 30 grams, spend the southern summer on lakes and beaches in Australia, then fly north to catch the summer in their northern hemisphere breeding grounds. The reserve is also home to a population of Quendas, a native marsupial.

The Nature Reserve is located on the north-eastern side of the Peel Inlet, adjacent to the Mariners Cove residential estate and south-east of the Mandurah Bypass bridge. Toilets are available at the nearby Mariners Cove Cafe.

Hidden gem of a trail that is gated to protect the wildlife from foxes and stray cats. We found one of the gates opened so be sure to close them behind you as sometimes the latches don't automatically retract. Highlights include: two boardwalks overlooking the estuary, information panels, a viewing platform and a bird hide which is ideal for bird enthusiasts. The wetlands are an important habitat for waterbirds and is also home to a population of Quendas & Kangaroos.

Started my walk at 8am on Sunday from the nearby Cafe (plenty of parking spots) and didn't expect to meet so many groups of kangaroos there. Best to start from gate under the wooden tower for bird watching then take the boardwalk first. After that do the walk trail (loop) and pay attention to the bushes for kangaroos & birds while they are enjoying their meals. Easy walk for kids.

short and easy walk, with a beautiful view of the lake for sunset ... perfect place for bird watchers.
