Surprised anyone would dare call this an official trail. Only rode part of it but it’s just a combination of 4wd tracks used by locals to access the riverside. Trail is mostly packed sand with moments of mud, limestone and soft sand. Gave up and turned around after about 4km, when I was sufficiently disgusted and convinced that it was not going to improve. The rivermouth / ocean front is worth visiting tho, and they’re both accessible by car.

Going clockwise from the Cape Burney, the walk is well maintained, with lookouts and several seats placed evenly along the trail up to Devlin Pool road south entrance. After that there is no seating and you start to see farmland on your left. Once you cross the river and start the return there are some short sandy sections. Overall, a good trail, took me 3 hours 45 minutes with only a few quick stops for photos. Was getting a bit bored on the last hour though. Saw some pelicans, ducks, sandpiper, ibis, rabbits and a lizard.
