Dolly Beach, Christmas Island

An easy walk through the lush rain forest in Christmas Island National Park to Dolly Beach - a Robinson Crusoe palm lined beach where the only tracks other than your own will be those of nesting turtles.

Dolly Beach

One of the pristine beaches on Christmas Island

About the Trail

From the car park, this is a leasurely walk of just over 1 kilometre, mostly on a boardwalk, through shore terrace forest to Dolly Beach.  It is an isolated and picturesque sandy beach with a coral reef and a freshwater stream.

Take your snorkel gear as the reef on Dolly Beach is located very close to the shoreline - on a calm day, the snorkelling is spectacular.  You can also relax in the many rock pools on the shoreline at Dolly but beware of rogue waves.

Robber crabs inhabit the area above the beach and turtles nest all year round.   Please do not disturb the animals or their nests.

Take a picnic and make a day of it.
