Yaburara Heritage Trail, Karratha

Need to Know

  • Time

    Various trails can chosen ranging from 1 hour to 3 hours.
  • Distance

    Depending at which car park there are many choices from 500mtrs to 5km
  • Trail Start

    1535km north of Perth. Trail head maps can be found at top of Karratha Visitor Centre - Water Tanks and Karrtha Leisureplex
  • Trail End

    Karratha Leisureplex off Dampier Highway
  • Degree of Difficulty

     Grade 4 - Bushwalking experience recommended. Tracks may be long, rough and very steep. Directional signage may be limited.

    There are sections that are steep (refer to map) at sections 3 to 4 and 5 to 6. The easier walk is along long loop.

  • What to Pack?

    + extra water Wear sturdy comfortable footwear. Must be reasonably fit and able bodied. The main trail does not return to the starting point, you have to back track, or organise transportation at the end point. + adequate precautions against sunburn and heat stress. No rubbish bins are available along trail, carry litter out with you. Careful consideration should be given before attempting the walk in hot weather The trail is for walkers only. Under the Aboriginal Heritage Act it is an offence to damage or alter any Aboriginal site or to remove any Aboriginal object from a site.

    The parking area at Karratha Road outside the Karratha Visitors Centre, and Karratha Leisureplex provides space for caravans and other larger vehicles.
