There are not many trails around where you can see a few surfacing  humpback whales, right whales and dolphins, sometimes at the same time! Augusta, near Cape Leeuwin in WA's south west, has one such trail.

Overlooking the scenic and wild Flinders Bay, walkers should lookout for the telltale spray of whales. If you are really lucky, you could witness some whale action in the form of breaching and tail slapping acrobatics. The walk itself partly follows a formed trail and some road. The route goes through the caravan park at Flinders Bay and there is directional signage. The walk takes about 1.5 hours, depending on how often or long you stop for whales.

The Whale Trail/ Ocean Walk is just one in a network of trails following the Blackwood River and Augusta coastline (see Harbour Views Trail, Pelican/River Trail and Coastal Walk Trail).

We wanted to do this walk as it's the only one in that area, not including the cape to cape. We parked the car and started walking, but it was just a path along the road. We could not even see the ocean because of the trees. After walking 1 km we decided to go back and drive.
