Learn moreThe trail starts at Sculpture Park in Mundaring, 30km NE of Perth, but can be accessed from mulitple points.
Spanning from Bellevue in the west to Wooroloo in the east, the trail is 41km long and suitable for walkers, cyclists and horses (animals are excluded from the section of trail that passes through John Forrest National Park). The trail can be completed in shorter half day sections if preferred.
Passing through John Forrest National Park, attractions along the trail include Swan View (railway) Tunnel, Mundaring Sculpture Park, the Goldfields Pipeline, picnic facilities, historic taverns and cafes, along with spectacular scenery and seasonal waterfalls.
Most points along the trail are accessible by road and the track is signposted with distances, interpretive trailheads and traffic crossings. The Railway Reserves Heritage Trail brochure, available from Perth Hills Mundaring Visitor Centre, contains a map, as well as distance and elevation charts making it easy to plan your journey.

Multiple entry points on trail. Recommend start point at Sculpture Park, Mundaring (ample parking), 30km (45 minutes) north east of Perth

Difficult trail with rough surface that may have very steep hills or extensive rock hopping. Directional signage may be limited. Bushwalking experience, navigation and emergency first aid skills, and good fitness required.

Recommended for beginner riders with basic mountain bike skills. Typically flowing, open trails on firm terrain with gentle gradients. Surface may be uneven, loose or muddy at times. Riders may encounter small rollable obstacles and technical trail features.
